A new train chugs in

JAYANT KAIKINI's prose is remarkable for the way it captures tremendous insights in a delightfully breezy style. And so, a new collection by this Kannada writer is something to eagerly look forward to. After a fairly long gap — his last book of short stories was a compilation volume of his old stories — Jayanth is releasing a collection of new stories.

The collection has a great teaser for a name too, Toofan Mail, reminding you of the evergreen Kanan Devi number "Ye duniya toofan mail", which uses the train as a metaphor for life itself.

An Ankita Pustaka publication, the book will be released on April 10, at 10.30 a.m., at the Indian Institute of World Culture, B.P. Wadia Road. The book will be released by Jnanpith Award-winning writer U.R. Ananthamurthy. Excerpts from the book will be read by film actor Ananthanag and small screen actress Malavika.
