Now Jagathy regales small screen viewers

Jagathy Sreekumar, the comedy king in Malayalam cinema, is now out to capture the mini screen too. `Ellam Mayajalam' is his first venture as producer for the mini screen. Sixteen episodes have been screened on Asianet, weekdays, 21.30, and more episodes are in the making. The serial, which has Jagathy and Kalpana in the main roles, is a light-hearted comedy that looks at the current issues. Says Jagathy Sreekumar, who won a slew of awards recently for his stellar performance in more than 1,000 films, "It was a business decision. I have my drama company called Kala Nilayam. And now this. I decided to form a company with my friend Narayanankutty. Since, this is the first serial that my company, JN Creations (Jagathy and Narayanankutty), is producing and since the story is such, I am acting in it. If our next project is a teen story, naturally I would have no place in it."`Ellam Mayajalam' takes a hard look at corruption in high places and the hypocrisy of self-serving politicians, social workers and others who pay lip service to woman's emancipation and development. Directed by Nizar, the script and dialogue are by Manju S. Nair.
