Bronze and brass creations along with wood craft cast their spell at Srushti's "Crafts Fair," Mastercraft person L. Rathakrishna's superb bronzes are a celebration of the best in shastric iconography spanning Pallava, Chola and Hoysala styles. Rathakrishnan has delved into Shilpa shastra to create forms rarely seen before. The Crafts Fair has his latest masterpiece a 7-1/2 ft. Nataraja in the last of the 108 `tandava nrtya' poses stunning with its fluidity and grace. A Chola style Saraswathi is another dazzling creation along with "Rathi Manmathan." Each underlines harmony and brilliance in craftsmanship from a 3" Venugopal costing Rs.250 to a 7-1/2 ft. Nataraja for Rs.2.5 lakhs.
Nachiarkoil brass lamps in various sizes are another attraction at the fair. Particularly eye-catching are large-sized brass animal and mythological figures from Moradabad. Three feet tall lions with a slight touch of Burmese craft, superbly shaped 2 ft tall cows are among the offerings of Moradabad craftsmen, who also showcase some pretty brass bric-a-brac. Rajasthan's intricately carved word `jhoola' with eye catching brass inlay work is another spectacular item on view. The "Crafts Fair" offers many attractive options for gifts.
