Child art Winners all the way.
Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi has been giving a valuable boost to art atmosphere in the state by conducting children art competition and exhibition for the last 30 years.
It has generated tremendous enthusiasm among the children of the State and hundreds of participants send in their entries every year.
Says eminent artist Chandramani Biswal who is the secretary of the Akademi, "so far the response from child artists has been tremendous.
Popularity of the programme has generated an art movement in the state at the grass root level. At present art education is a neglected area in school curriculum. Our Akademi has played a pivotal role to encourage the children and expose their creative talent to the world outside."
The child art competition is held among children in the age group of 6-16 years who are divided into four groups.
This year the topic was `Environment' and 128 children from different parts of the state were awarded for their artwork. The paintings, mostly in watercolour and crayons, focussed on various environmental issues, the importance of forest, natural resources and peaceful cohabitation with animals. The exhibition was on for one day at Bhanja Kala Mandap.
