DEVOTIONAL DRAMA: A scene from `Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham'.
Sri Sai Kalaniketan, an association of dramatists dedicatedly serving the cause of poetic drama organised the staging of "Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddham" recently in the Prema Samajam Hall. Scripted by Tandava Subrahmanyam and presented by Udayabhanu Kalasamithi, Rajam, it was the 129th monthly schedule of the Niketan .
Similar to the story of "Krishnarjuna Yuddham", it establishes the fact that `Ramabhakthi' and `Ramanamam' wield more power than the Lord Himself in His physical form, and Anjaneya's devotion to Rama too gets revealed in the script.
Ch. Krishna Murty who enacted the role of Rama not only did justice in bringing out the adorable attributes of the Lord but also justified once again the title `Madhuragayakudu' conferred on him. Sesapu Appalanaidu as Anjaneya proved himself a peer in all aspects of acting to Krishna Murty. B.A. Dora as Yayathi, R.J. Sarma as Lakshmana, K. Sankar Rao as Bharatha, B. Chinnam Naidu as Satrughna, M. Eswara Rao as Viswamitra, B.Ch. Naidu as Vasishta and T. Narasimhappadu as Narada also did well keeping up the tempo and sustaining the gusto.
Amarapu Krishna on harmonium and K. Krishna on tabla lent good orchestral support. Stage decor, management and lighting by M. Akku Naidu, P.V.R. Murthy, N. Simhadri and Kesava Rao under the supervision of Chowdary Appa Rao was meticulous.
Earlier in the evening in the meeting held with the Niketan's honorary president, Ganta Appala Naidu in the chair, chief guest Pyla Ramalingeswara Rao felicitated Sesapu Appala Naidu on the occasion. Global Welfare Society coordinator Peddada Ramani Kumari and K. Lakshmi Naidu speaking on the occasion were all praise for Sesapu Appala Naidu's yeomen service perpetuating the art of poetic drama.
