Jogi takes centre-stage

STAR VISIT Shivraj Kumar entertains Hubli audience with a number from the film, Jogi

The Kannada film industry which has been Bangalore-centric for all its activities is slowly moving towards other places in the state. In the event of Bangalore becoming cosmopolitan, Kannada films are already facing severe competition from films of other languages, particularly Tamil and Telugu. It's probably a realisation dawned late that Kannada movies are well received in North Karnataka, is what has caused the development. Consequently, Hubli is becoming a favourite destination for the Kannada filmdom of late.

It started with the audio release of Kutumba in which Upendra played the lead role. After that it was Sudeep who came to Hubli for the audio release of Swati Muttu. Both the programmes were well received by the Hubli moviegoers, young and old alike. Even Vishnuvardhan, Ramesh, Dwarakish and Prema came to Hubli to participate in the 100th day celebration of the film Apta Mitra. And last week it was Shivaraj Kumar who came and performed on stage for the audio release of the film Jogi. The response was awesome. People waited for more than an hour braving the drizzle to watch the function.

The team comprising of Ramprasad, Proprietor, Ashwini Recording Company, venturing into the production of Jogi, regaled the audience for about three hours. The hero and heroine of the film, Shivaraj Kumar and Jennifer, took turns to entertain the audience by dancing to the numbers from the new film. Before they came on to the stage it was music director Gurukiran and the Director Prem and singers Sumitha and Chaitra, who got the audience dance to their songs. In between, the dance troupes performed hit numbers from recent Kannada films.

And of course the release happened in the true filmy style with Shivaraj, Gurkiran and Prem appearing on stage in the attire of a jogi and of course Shivraj Kumar kept his fans on their feet.

K.V. Gagandeep, Police Commissioner of Hubli-Dharwad and B.R. Ravikantegowda, DCP (Law and Order) took part in the release programme. Of course, all actors had to say why they loved Hubliites.
