Comedy club's rib-ticklers

Visakha Comedy Club's monthly meet was replete with humour and wit.

When the Visakha Creative Comedy Club comes together, rest assured the get-together will feature a good dose of humour and wit. The Club recently held its monthly meet in the Public Library Hall. Humorous skits, songs, stories and rib-tickling jokes were presented by many among the audience. Lakshmi Prasad on the keyboard and M. Valli Subrahmanyam on tabla lent orchestral support.

A skit, titled English Vaidyam, presented by Talabattula L. Prasad, A. Raghava Rao and P. Chakradhar won the Tirunagari Narayana Murthy Memorial Prize.

Skits and satire

Among the other prize winners were Ch. Swathi (Best Participant Award instituted by Kallu Chidambaram), Akkireddy Bhaskar for his TV Mutchatlu, Ch. Jyothi Kumar in the children's category, Aruna Kumar (Gullapalli Kameswara Rao Memorial prize), Pridhvi (Sumitra Memorial prize), besides V. Nanjusha, Vinay, P. Nirmala Raju, P. Vidya, M. Govinda Rao and V. Srinivasa Rao for their witty jokes and Lakshmi Prasad and Chakradhar for their musical parody.

Former BHU professor (Telugu) Bayya Venkata Suryanarayana, who was the guest of honour, honorary president of the Club and reputed cine comedian Kallu Chidambaram besides noted novelist K. Vijaya Lakshmi, founder of Visakha Kalaaratna Parishad, P.A. Bhaskara Rao, Vidhivilaasam chief Ch. Prabhakara Rao and advocates M.V. Subrahmanyam and Usha Prasad also delighted the audience with their talks on creative humour. Joint secretary of Visakha Sahithi, M. Sivaram Prasad, preside as the judge. General secretary of the Club, M. Mastan Reddy, gave away the awards while joint secretary Garimella Nageswara Rao proposed a vote of thanks.
