All about teenage love
IN DISCUSSION: on the sets of Kicha Vayasu 16
The YMCA ground is full of cars and vans and voices are hardly heard above the din caused by the generator. Manikandan, "Boys" hero, standing near a huge tree, is discussing the scene with the second heroine Sujibala. When the director shouts `start' Manikandan speaks to the girl who bursts into tears.
After `cut' the director, A. Rajagopal, comes over for a chat. "It is all about teenage love," he begins referring to "Kicha Vayasu 16." Manikandan is a tenth standard student.
He scores well in the exams and the teacher, Simran, has a few kind and encouraging words for him. The boy thinks she is in love with him. The illusion is cleared and that forms the climax. ``It will be an eye opener for teenagers," says the director.
``Simran liked the script and agreed to act although she was married," says producer M. Sridharan.
More interesting is the fact that her husband, Deepak, is also appearing in a role. "It was Simran's request and we found a role that did not deviate much from the screenplay," he explains.
``Sujibala plays a tomboy and has done a good job," says Sridharan. There are two dances by Rakasya of "Vasool Raja MBBS" fame. The film will soon be released.
The cast includes Jai Akash T. P. Gajendran, Vaiyapuri, Pandu and Benjamin. Music is scored by Dhina, camera is cranked by Ashok Selva, editing is by Srinivasan, lyrics are written by Pa. Vijai, Snegan and Yugabharathi. Dance sequences are choreographed by Ashok, Sridhar, Lalitha Mani, John Babu and Shiva Shanker. The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by A. Rajagopal.
