Immortal melodies

Music lovers were treated to some memorable songs of Ghantasala.

Legendary singer Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao's immortal voice and his innumerable melodious songs influence his fans so much that even nearly 40 years after his demise, almost every week, somewhere or the other, his songs are rendered and these events attract great crowds always.

Several cultural groups all over the State conduct Ghantasala nites and pay tributes to him by rendering his songs.

The programme titled "Ghantasala Gaanaamritam" was organised by a group of singers from Guntur at Kshetrayya Kala Kshetram, Vijayawada.

The venue was packed to capacity and the crowd was in raptures when the singers rendered nearly 40 songs of Ghantasala with excellent support from a fine orchestral team.

The group consisted of M. Raju, V. Nageswara Rao, Satyavani, Sivaleela, Vinod and Helen.

Some of the memorable melodies they rendered were Evarivo neevevarivo, Manasu parimalinchene, Rajasekhara, Chigurakulalo Chilakamma, Khushee Khusheega, Vagalaranivi neeve, Padavela Radhika and Kannulalo Misa misalu. Orchestral support was provided by Suresh, Ashok Kumar, Ashgar, Bheemesh, Balaji, Anand Babu, Siva, Srinivas and Sasidhar. Umashankar Gopi compered the show well.
