Prarthana Rao, accompanied by Hemalatha (violin) and Tiruvidaimarudur Sankaran (mridangam) announced herself to be a true disciple of Mani Krishnaswamy in her ascetic adherence to tradition in raga development and kirtana rendering. She turned her back on superimposing excitement on her cutcheri pattern.
`Rama Bhakti' (Suddha Bangala), `Brochevarevarura' (Kamas), `Kanta Joodumi' (Vachaspati with a crisp alapana) and `Enduku Dayaraadura' (Todi with elaboration stressing the moorchanas) framed her concert. The Devangadhari piece, `Koluvai Yunnade' focussed on the aesthetic subtlety of the kirtana structure.
