Simply bawdy!
CRASS AND CORNY: A scene from Kyaa Kool Hai Hum.
Kyaa Kool Hai Hum
Genre: Comedy
The cast: Tusshar Kapoor, Isha Kopikar, and Riteish
The director: Sangeeth Sivan The storyline: A guy pretends to be involved with a mannequin.
The bottomline: Ribald
Dresses are getting skimpier. Comedy cornier. Films are bawdy - stars, talented and upcoming, quite a willing party. Director Sangeeth Sivan's new film here caters to the lowest common denominator with such unabashed abandon that you end up undertaking a test for moral flexibility. Wonder what the Censor Board ladies and gentlemen were doing while sitting through this ribaldry with jokes constantly aimed below the belt, with situations set up to squeeze in an extra angle to tickle where it is the easiest to tickle. Self-love, same-sex bond, simulation of the adult act. It has them all.
It has a guy pretending to be involved with a mannequin. It has a doctor with a "ball therapy." It has a female inspector who hits both below and above the belt! Yes, it has them all, all quite obscene, all perfectly avoidable.
The frontbenchers are lovingit. And that is the sadder part. In the past, such films were from the Dada Kondke School of Film-making. Now, anybody desperate for success takes the easiest route. Sad that talented Tusshar who has not had a hit since "Mujhe Kuchh Kehna Hai" is reduced to this! Sad for Isha and Riteish too. But the saddest part is, it comes from the family of Jeetendra!
