Vaikasi Utsavam
The Vaikasi festival is on at Velleeswarar temple, Mylapore. Car festival will be on May 20 at 8.30 a.m. The deity will be taken in a procession at night. Trimurthi Darisanam will be on May 21 at 4.30 p.m. and Panchamurthi Darisanam in the evening, followed by Parivettai Utsavam. The deity will appear in special alankaram on May 22 at 6.30 p.m. On Monday, at 8.30 p.m. Tirukkalyanam will take place. The festival concludes on June 3.
Titles to be conferred
Bombay Jayashree Ramnath and Kalpagam Swaminathan (veena) will be conferred the titles, `Sangeetha Choodamani' and Acharya Choodamani respectively at the 50th Gokulashtami sangeetha utsavam, to be held at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, T. Nagar, on August 6. The honour carries a cash award of Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.
New sabha
The long felt desire of the music lovers in Velachery for a sabha in their area will be fulfilled with the launch of Neelakanta Sivan Cultural Academy, F4, Sri Lakshmi Apartments, III Cross Street, VI Main Road, Dhandeeswaram, Velachery, Ph: 22431235, on May 22. The sabha will be inaugurated at a function, to be held at PSK Bhooshanam Kalyana Mandapam, 6 p.m. The function will be followed by the concert of Neyveli R. Santhanagopalan.
Music competition

Award function
Kartik Fine Arts in association with RmKV wedding silks, has organised the Award distribution function of the 16th Kodai Nataka Vizha 2005, at Mylapore Fine Arts. The function will be held on June 1 at 6 p.m.
Anniversary celebration

Temple car festival
The car festival of Arulmigu Paataleeswarar temple, Thirupadiripuliyur, Kadalur district, will be on May 22 at 7.45 a.m. Thiruvilakku Puja will be performed in the evening at 6.15 p.m. followed by Bharanatyam recital by Neyveli Nrityopasana group at 8.40 p.m.
