Celebrating Annamacharya Jayantotsavam, the staff and students of Kuchipudi Kalaakshetram, an offshoot of renowned maestro Vempati's Kuchipudi Art Academy (Chennai), presented a delightful dance recital in the cultural enclave of Bapu Bhavan on Monday evening.
The dance recital got off to an absorbing start with the invocatory number Jayamu Jayamu Lalitha Kalaavaniki set in Bilhari in Aaditaalam, presented by juniors Aparna Swathi, Kavya and Subbaraju. Next, Lakshmi Pavitra danced to Paluku Tenela Thalli of Annamayya tuned in Abheri in Khandachaapu. Then came a picturesque presentation of Narayaneeyam by Swathi, Kavya and Raju as it gets revealed in the composition of Sadasivabrahmendra, Manasa Sancharare set in Raagamalika, Aaditalam. This was followed by Pravesadaruvu of Bhamaakalaapam by Pavitra, a good effort but wanting in portrayal of Satyabhama's traits..
Presentation of Adivo Alladivo by Kavya, Aparna and Raju followed by Narayanateerdha Tarangam (Raagamalika, Aaditaalam) by Pavitra, marked a scintillating finale. The music comprised expert nattuvangam by Harirama Murthy, absorbing vocal by J.L. Kalpana and Sai Savitri, mridangam by Kanthilal, violin by M. Srinivasa Rao and flute by Suryanarayana. Make-up by K. Surya Rao was good.
