HAT-TRICK SHOW There were good recitals in the third consecutive year.
Odissi Guru Pitambar Biswal and his organisation Suravi have been doing a great job in organising Ekamra Nrutya Mahotsav for the last three years without much support from sponsors. Though the festival is called a dance festival, classical music too is an important feature here.
In fact, this year the festival opened at Ekamra Haat with a mardal recital by Guru Dhaneswar Swain.
The opening day featured duet Odissi dance by Raseswari Mohanty and Sunita Sahoo, Kathak by Shalini Ghosh and solo Odissi by Guru Bichitrananda Swain. Ramaya Bhaskaran from Jabalpur opened the proceedings on the second evening with Kuchipudi dance. Her Ganesh vandana was followed by Dasavatara. It was followed by Lalit Kundu's Kathak.
The Odissi touch was provided by Manoranjan Nayak and Niladri Mohanty presenting Batu and Ashtasambhu in duet. Kuasavi Sarkar's solo came up after that.
The concluding evening again began with music. Odissi guru Ramahari Dash gave a facile presentation of Odissi vocal accompanied on the mardal by Guru Dhaneswar Swain and on the violin by Guru Ramesh Chandra Das.Aurosmita Acharya and Lipsa Dash, the dancers from Suravi gave an exhilarating exhibition of duet dance beginning with Suryastaka in mangalacharan and going on to pure dance and abhinaya. Leema Bhol's solo Odissi was another highlight of the concluding evening that came to an end with group Odissi dance.
The annual dance fest apart from providing a platform to Odissi dance and vocal is also inviting dancers of other forms and thus exposing the audience to classical dance in totality.
