Palani Sri M. Subramania Pillai Trust (Ph: 2493 9234) will observe the 43rd Guru Pooja anniversary of the mridanga vidwan on May 30 at Narada Gana Sabha Mini Hall, T. T. K. Road, Alwarpet at 8.30 a.m.
Musical homage
To commemorate the life and music of T. R. Mahalingam, Ramani's Academy of Flute, Mylapore (Ph: 2499 3217) has organised an evening of music on May 31 at Narada Gana Sabha. At 5.30 p.m., there will be a flute recital by Sathva Srinath followed by K. S. Mahadevan's homage to Mali at 7 p.m. and a flute recital by Nikhil Narayanan.
Carnatic Chills
Ganesh Kumaresh will present an evening of music, titled Carnatic Chills, at the Narada Gana Sabha Hall, on May 29, at 6.30 p.m. The show will have Ganesh Kumaresh on the violin and vocals. A special song written by Gangai Amaran and composed by Ganesh Kumaresh will be a highlight.
Annual Urs of Sufi saint
The 58th Urs of Qutubul Akhtab Hazrath Hafiz Syed Habeeb Mohammed Hasan Moulana Khadiri Baghdadi (Rah) was held at the Dargah premises, Mannady, on May 14. Devotees attended the night-long prayer which started with zikhir. The Urs culminated with the recitation of dua by the Sajjada Nahshin and Muthavalli of the Dargah.
