Theatre festival
United Visuals (Ph: 2446 9292; 2446 9393) will celebrate its 10th anniversary and actor TV Varadharajen's 25th year on stage, with a theatre festival, which will be hosted for 25 days from July 22 to August 15, at the various sabha halls in the city.
Out of the 19 plays to be enacted, six will be by the United Visuals troupe and the rest by others. Veteran playwright and director Marina's inimitable `Thani Kudithanam' will be one of the plays to be staged. Popular stage personalities like Y. Gee. Mahendra, S. Ve. Shekher, `Crazy' Mohan, Kathadi Ramamurthy, `Bombay' Chanakya and Kovai KRS and well-known troupes such as Kalanilayam, Railpriya, Gurukulam and Nataka Mandir will stage their plays.
Theatre veterans will be honoured on the occasion. A photography exhibition on the Tamil theatre movement is also on the cards.
United Visuals is interested in showcasing rare and unique yesteryear pictures of the stage and in this regard is in contact with all stage artistes.
A seminar on Present Day Theatre and on the Future of Drama is being organised as part of the celebration.
