Paris screams for all she is worth
After delightfully cheesy horror flicks like House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts, Dark Castle Entertainment (Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis) have given us House of Wax.
In 1953, Andre De Toth (incidentally Quentin Tarantino dedicated his Reservoir Dogs to De Toth) directed a movie about a warped sculptor (Vincent Price) who decides to make life-like sculptors by killing people and pouring wax on them.
The film in 3-D was hugely successful and Silver and Zemeckis have decided to remake the film.
The reimaging has six silly teenagers, including the lovely Paris Hilton who combat life and limb or risk becoming permanent residents at Trudy's House of Wax.
While the movie is also supposed to have a sub-text of sibling rivalry and evil twins, the bottom line is there will is much slicing and dicing and tons of gore for the dedicated horror movie buff.
Directed by ad filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, the film according to Silver uses the premise of earlier film as a jumping-off point to create a new story.
Jaume says, "We did things with wax that have never been done on film before, from creating an entire town filled with wax figures to engulfing our cast and the House of Wax in flames in our spectacular finale. After this movie, you will never look at wax the same way again."
So now when the power goes, apart from looking under the bed for sundry monsters, you will also have to watch out for the wax from your candle!
