Padmavathi Paramahamsa's recital lent the pleasure of enjoying the veena fervour.

The recital by noted guru Pappu Padmavathi Paramahamsa along with her prime disciple daughter-in-law Padma Ravi Shankar and a medico by profession Bamidipati Kanaka Durga Prasad, was a veritable treat of Carnatic music on veena.
Sans any craze for having a contact microphone, it lent the pleasure of enjoying the intrinsic fervour of the indigenous instrument as well in ample measure. The skilful and mellow accompaniment on mridangam by M. Sridhar too was a special attraction.
The repertoire for the evening comprised the Atataalam varnam in Bhairavi, Srimahaaganapathim of Dikshitar (Gowla), Ambavani of Muttaiah Bhagavatar adorned with aalapana and swaram, the Aarabhi Pancharatnakrithi of Tyagaraja, Saadhinchene, Ragaratnamaalikache of Tyagaraja prefixed with aalapana, Patnam Subrahmanya Iyer's Kadanakutoohala keerthana Raghuvamsa Sudhambhudhi Chandra, Ragam, Taanam and Pallavi in Kalyani, with the pallavi set in Khanda Triputa and concluded with swaram in ragamalika comprising Lalitha, Behag, Sindhubhairavi, Varali, Kannada and Revathi. The knowledgeable and enjoyable tani on mridangam by Sridhar was enthralling.
Kaliyuga Delli a Kannada composition in Jhanjhuti and a Thillana in Darbarikanada comprised the lilting tailpiece.
The sharing of aalapana almost in equal measure and the swarakalpana replete with subtle variations in the constitution of the phraseology instantly by all of them individually contributed grandeur.
