The Satabhishekam fete of Aryavaidyan P.K. Warrier was an occasion to felicitate a legend in the field of Ayurveda.

SCHOLAR AND PHILANTHROPIST:P.K. Warrier.
The Satabhishekam fete of Aryavaidyan P.K. Warrier, managing trustee and chief physician of Vaidyaratnam P.S. Varier Arya Vaidya Sala, brought hundreds of people to Kottakkal on Sunday.
Dr. Warrier's 84th birthday was a milestone not just for Dr. Warrier but for the Vaidya Sala as well. The huge turnout in the courtyard of Kailasa Mandiram, headquarters of the Arya Vaidya Sala, stood testimony to the historic moment.
It was a rare occasion for Dr. Warrier as his birthday and his birth `star' (Karthika) fell on the same day.
There were politicians (such as Abdussamad Samadani, MP, and K.K. Ramachandran, Minister for Health), doctors (such as K. Madhavan Kutty and K. Rajagopal), writers (such as M.T. Vasudevan Nair and Akkitham Namboothiri), jurists (such as R. Basant), and film personalities (such as P.V. Gangadharan).
Vasudevan Nair released a memoir on Dr. Warrier, edited by Sanskrit scholar K.G. Poulose. Dr. Rajagopal, a physician with expertise in both allopathy and Ayurveda, accepted the first copy from Vasudevan Nair.
During his brief speech, the "birthday sage" of the Arya Vaidya Sala said that the God-given life was not to harm others, but to love them. "My fame increased only because of Arya Vaidya Sala and not vice-versa," said Dr. Warrier.
It was his and his predecessors' philanthropic qualities that helped the Panniampally family to turn the 19th and 20th century history of Kottakkal into their history. The P.S. Varier family that migrated from Nanmanda is now a synonym for Kottakkal.
Dr. Warrier, the youngest nephew of the legendary Ayurvedacharya who founded Arya Vaidya Sala, is known as the guru of holistic medicine. Nowhere else do tradition and modernity blend so perfectly and seamlessly as in Arya Vaidya Sala, thanks to the leadership of Dr. Warrier.
It was his thirst for knowledge that earned Dr. Warrier the niche he enjoys today. "His open mind and capability to absorb new things make him unique," said Dr. Poulose, who heads the Publication Division of Arya Vaidya Sala.
The association of scientists like M.S. Valiathan and M.S. Swaminathan with the research programmes of Arya Vaidya Sala is testimony to Dr. Warrier's keenness to imbibe the latest in science.
