NUTSHELL

Burman Remembered

Sukhbhlas Barma rendered songs of the veteran Hindi film music composer Sachin Deb Burman at the Habitat Centre this week. And Habitat also witnessed Manomoy Bhattacharya rendering popular songs of Bengal. Both these programmes were presented by Impressario India.

Sarangi Recital

Murad Ali, son and disciple of the renowned sarangi player Ustad Ghulam Sabir Khan, presented a sarangi recital, as part of the HCl concert series, at the Habitat Centre.

Evening Of Ghazals

Anuradha Arts of Jodhpur presented an evening of ghazals by the renowned ghazal maestro Roshan Bharti of Kota The programme was held at the India Habitat Centre.

Hindi Plays

Quite a few Hindi plays were mounted this past week and early this week. While Rangbhoomi presented J.P. Singh's Hindi satire `Urgent Meeting' (written by Jayavardhan), Imago Theatre-in-Education Company presented its workshop production, as did Khilona, and that too with a repeat performance. Besides, Umang, the children's theatre group, which earlier held a workshop and produced the play by Satyajit Ray, mounted an interesting play `Gopi Gavaiya, Bagha Bajaiya'. The play was mounted at Poorva Sanskritik Kendra, Laxmi Nagar District Centre at Vikas Marg.

Santhal Life

Habiart Foundation presented `The Summer Show', a solo paintings exhibition by Dhanjay, The Tune of Santhal Life in Summer' at the Habiart Gallery.

Summer Workshop

A summer workshop on Dance and Movements (basics of Indian Classical dance, body flexibility exercises, yoga, etc.,) by Jayaprabha Menon, a Mohiniattam exponent and choreographer was held at the Triveni Kala Sangam.
