Everyone's Rama

Scholar Mathoor Krishnamurthy's work Nammellara Srirama is an attempt to reach the story of Ramayana to the common man in contemporary times, without diluting its spirit. Interspersed with original Sanskrit shlokas with commentary, it tells the entire story of the epic in an abridged form. In his introduction, L.S. Sheshagiri Rao says: "Mathoor Krishnamurthy does not see Rama as a God who came down to earth. He sees him as a man who rose to be God." He further says that the work is characterised by directness and simplicity, accessible to schoolboy and scholar.

The book has been published by M.P. Birla Foundation, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. Call 22267421 for details, book is priced at Rs. 150.
