On human challenges
Chennai will hold its first world film festival on disability. It will be organised by Ability Foundation between July 7 and 11 at the Anand Theatre on Anna Salai, and isopen to everybody. About 20 films will be screened on July 8, 9 and 10. July 7 will be the opening ceremony with Adoor Gopalakrishnan, P. K. Nair, Nandita Das, Jaya Bachchan and Rajiv Menon in attendance, and July 11, a workshop. France, Italy, Germany, Russia, Australia, Japan, Sri Lanka and the U.S. have sent their entries. Therewill be a competition of about 50 shorts, vying for cash prizes of Rs one lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000. Chennai's India International Disability Festival will join the ranks of the ones in London, Munich, Moscow, Montreal and Melbourne.
