Mohan Babu and Prakash Raj who play the rival dons come together for the first time in a film.

FIRST LOVE Mohan Babu and Charmi in `Political Rowdy.'
The Location: spacious road before the Assembly buildings. Movie: Sri Lakshmi Prasanna Pictures, Political Rowdy.
As the evening sky gives way to the twinkling stars, a host of movie stars alight from their luxury vehicles accompanied by the unit members in a convoy of cars and vans. The outdoor unit with the generator is stationed a 100- yards away. Within no time the experienced unit hands make the necessary arrangements so that the director Adinarayana can shoot the required sequence.
The shoot commences and it is evident by the dialogues (by Paruchuri Brothers) that Kota Srinivasa Rao plays the villain. Thanikella Bharani, Raghubabu, Venumadhav and Ali standing on one side with Benerjee in Police Commissioner's robes seriously watch the proceedings. And then the hero Mohan Babu makes a grand entry to save the good Government that Kota plots to overthrow.
Remake with changes
"This is the hero's introduction scene. We have planned it in such a grand manner that it would leave the audience spell bound," says the director. "Bharani is uncle and close associate of the hero and Venumadhav, Ali, Raghu Babu are his trusted aides," continues Adi with his narration in between the short breaks. "Though the film is a remake of the Tamil hit, Adi Dhadi, we have taken only the main content and effected many changes in the subject bringing in new characters like that of Brahmanandam, Sunil and Raghu Babu," he explains.
Mohan Babu is a strict disciplinarian and concentration personified on the sets. Once the camera rolls nothing can distract him and he expects his co-artistes to be as committed as he is. With an impeccable diction he delivers the power packed dialogue that is followed by an action episode.
Bachelor's romance
"There are political overtones and digs of the contemporary political scenario. But the emphasis is also on a love story. What will happen when a confirmed bachelor at 45 falls in love with a college student?
He sights her first at a beauty contest where she is a finalist. He is bowled over by her answer. Is he really in love with her, at least she thinks so. But she likes a boy of her age (played by Abbas who has done the same role in the Tamil version). Mohan Babu plays the confirmed bachelor and Charmi, the bubbly, naughty college going girl," Adi explains about the characterisations, as a cool breeze wafts through the place with the clock ticking away towards midnight.
"We will be shooting here for two nights and then move to Annapurna Studios to shoot some portions of the Assembly scenes in specially created sets, using blue matt to give an authentic feel matching the scenes with graphics, " the director explained.
Most of the talkie part had been completed. The next schedule starts from July 7 in Tirupati where the filming of the college scenes and other key sequences would be held over a 14-days period. "We also plan to two songs in a foreign location on the lead pair," says adding that Sandeep Chowtha's music is an added asset.
We are naturally curious to know what Prakash Raj is doing in the film. "I think this is the first time Mohan Babu and Prakash Raj are acting together in a film. The city has two dons.
One is Prakash Raj, a vicious character and the other is Mohan Babu, a Good Samaritan. The clash of the titans is interestingly narrated and is the life force of the film," smiles Adi as he moves towards the arc lights to call for the next shot.
