U.S. troupe stages Tamil play

Author Anand Raghav.

Krea, a Tamil theatre group from the U.S., in association with Krishna Gana Sabha, is staging Sruti Bedham, a Tamil play, at Narada Gana Sabha on Saturday, 6.45 p.m.

A musical, the play promises to be different from the run-of-the-mill stuff seen in the sabha circuit.

The plot revolves round a musician and his estranged daughter, also a singer.

The author is Anand Raghav, resident of Thailand, who is not new to readers, having contributed short stories to Tamil magazines and won several prizes.

Incidentally, he is planning to release his collection next week. Sruti Bedham is his fourth play for Krea and was first staged in February in California. For mor information on the group reach www.kreacreations.com.

Director Deepa Ramanujam

The director Deepa Ramanujam (she also plays the daughter) again is known to TV viewers here.

She anchored shows here and directed a couple of documentaries. Krea was founded on her inspiration.

The other lead actors in the play are Rajiv (musician), Naveen and Vidya (musician's wife).

The group will stage the play at different venues with TV Varadharajen and Bombay Chanakya as coordinators.

Sruti Bedham will also be staged at Bharat Kalachar, July 10, Hamsadhwani, July 14 and Mylapore Fine Arts, July 15, 7 p.m. on all the days.
