Not a love story...

M.L. NARASIMHAM

... it is a story about love, says EVV of his latest film M.L. Narasimham

FREEZE FRAME A still from the film Nuvvante Naakishtam

A few weeks ago E.V.V. Satyanarayana shot a duet on Naresh and Anu Mehta in Hyderabad before flying off with his unit to Singapore and Bangkok to shoot a couple of scenes on the pair and hero Aryan Rajesh for his dream project, Nuvvante Naakishtam.

"I have put in all my efforts to give the much needed big hit to my sons' career. As for the movie, it is not a love story but a story about love," smiles the ace filmmaker with a penchant for comedy. "You have all the ingredients of a commercial grosser, romance, rib tickling comedy, subtle sentiment and action with a dose of message too. The realistic approach to the story supported by strong screenplay takes the front seat along with matching performances. Fortunately, I found suitable actors for each role. Music has a major role to play and Koti's innovative music is an added asset. The songs emanate from the situations, like in my earlier films, Hello Brother, and Seetharathnamgaari Ammayi. There is a lot of scope to better the content through background score. So we are spending about a month for rerecording and digital track sound mixing," informs E.V.V.

Koti tunes it

The location then shifts to Sri Pada Recording Theatre near Shirdi Saibaba temple in Punjagutta. Koti has just commenced the background score after watching the rushes. "I have worked with E.V.V. for nearly a score of films and he always leaves enough space for the background score. My job is to match his imagination levels in each scene. He has his own stamp of quality in tackling rural based stories and gives equal importance to visuals and dialogue besides coming out with something novel," he says. Koti leads us inside his well- equipped studio where he has composed many chartbusters.

On the monitor screen a scene from the film is played. The foreign returned hero (Aryan Rajesh) goes to a village alone on a bride watch (Anu Mehta) . There are tense moments as the girl has other thoughts in her mind. But she is at a loss to explain. "The hero's initial joy turns into melancholy and we have to create a score that gives the right kind of mood to elevate the scene," smiles Koti, as he explains to the musicians the tune he has in mind through notations.

The scene is replayed a couple of times to get the desired effect . Once the scene is done Koti shows it with the the BGM and then without it . The difference is clearly evident as with the background music you get the right feel.

"After a long time I have derived great job satisfaction working on this album. The lyrics written for the situations are full of Telugu nativity, so the music has to be semi-classical. I can call it a fusion between classical and Western beats. I felt elated watching the pleasant visuals in the song sequences and the way they are choreographed to elevate the music," says Koti as he leads us towards the refreshment section for a cup of scalding lemon tea.

As Koti enters into the recording theatre again a red light flashes above the hydraulic door. It indicates that the work is in progress and `no disturbance please.'

Apart from most of EVV's regular comedians, the film slated for release on August 12 has Suman (playing father to the heroine), Chandramohan, Chalapati Rao, Ramaprabha, Sangeetha and Hema in key roles.
