Keyboard weaves a spell

The keyboard recital of 10-year old K. Sathyanarayanan on July 19 was a landmark event for Bhairavi Carnatic Music Circle, Pondicherry, being its 251st programme in its fruitful span of 23 years.

The young Chennai artiste stole the show by his talent to play kirtanas with effortless ease.

The audience, which included some foreigners, remained spellbound.

Sathyanarayanan was accompanied on the mridangam by Thillaisthanam R. Suriyanarayanan and on the violin by Villivakkam S. Raghuraman.

The occasion was also marked by release of the Music Circle's souvenir by S. Balasubramanian, Deputy General Manager of City Union Bank Limited, Kumbakonam. Dr. S. Srinivasan of JIPMER received the first copy.

The President A P J Abdul Kalam has granted Rs 50,000 to Music Circle to meet its financial commitments in conducting its activities.
