Short Cuts is screening movies with an Indian connection
|
On the one hand films are getting longer - The Return of the King, the final instalment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy clocked an incredible 220 minutes and on the other, it seems as if short films have found their place.
In the city we have two clubs celebrating the short film and if last Sunday saw screenings by Film Anonymous, now is the turn of Short Cuts. This month the theme is The Indian Connection. The short films to be showcased this month include Student Oscar winner Helicopter by Ari Gold. The cinematographer Andrij Parekh is of Indian origin. Graham Higgins, winner of Best New Talent Award at the Merseyside Arts and Entertainment Awards latest comedy Me My Swami and I that premiered at the and the Rain Dance Festival will have its exclusive Asian Premiere. Anand Alagappan's Anand's No Exit, that was feted at the Los Angeles International Short Film Fest would also be screened and there is also True Love is Just Filmi - a look at Bollywood through the eyes of German filmmaker Bernd Luetzeler.
For the Hyderabadi connection, you have The Salesman directed by local lad Imran Khan who previously assisted Mani Shankar and Nagesh Kukunoor.
