Bharago's latest

The book is a composition of over 116 old Telugu film songs.

Bhamidipati Ramagopalam, popularly called Bharago is a humour writer of short stories, critiques and popular novels .

He is also known for his passionate love for the songs from very old feature films, particularly Telugu. It is because they are devoid of the type of sophistication that is witnessed in the last two decades in lyrical composition, musical settings and even the rendering by singers, he avers.

The native fervour contained in all aspects of the songs from the old movies, except of course, the recording technique, is the factor that keeps on fascinating me, elaborated Bharago at a very informal gathering during the release of his new book Maro Noota Padahaarlu was released recently.

The book, the second of its kind (the first titled Noota Padahaaru Goppa Telugu Cinema Paatalu - released in 2001) is a compilation of another 116 songs from Telugu movies.

Admirable effort

While the first book covered songs released between 1942 and 1973, the present has songs from films released over a period of 45 years starting from 1940.

It is also an improvement over the first book in overall make-up, bold printing, more number of photos and so on.

Pictures of some of the singers of the yesteryears who are almost forgotten like, V. Sivaram, B. Narasimha Rao, T. Suryakumari, Bezavada Rajaratnam, Krishnaveni, A.P. Komala, Jamuna Rani, Vinjamuri Lakshmi, Balantrapu Rajanikantha Rao, A.M. Raja and the likes including Akkineni Nageswara Rao who sang Kaadusuma kalakaadu suma in Keelugurram himself are found in the book.
