Sign of things

At the 15th Annual Day Festival of Gayathri Fine Arts, organised in collaboration with Thala Bakthi, 11-year-old Anirudh Bharadwaj presented an impressive flute concert. Anirudh began his concert with Muthuswamy Dikshitar's "Vathapi Ganapatim", in the raga Hamsadhwani, following it with swaraprasthara. After presenting Tyagaraja's "Pandu Rithe Kolu" in the raga Hamsanadam, he presented the main song, Gopala Krishna Bharathi's "Sabaa Patikku Veru Deivam" in the raga Aboghi. The alap of the raga at the beginning as well as the swaraprathara towards the end were indicative of his creative talent. R. Saravanan on the violin and the 13-year-old Thiruvarur T.S. Sriram on the mridangam provided good support.
