Temple for Aiyappa

A replica of the Sabarimala Aiyappa temple has come up at Ambattur. Devotees in and around the place formed the Sastha Paripalana Trust in February last and construction began three years after land was purchased.

The two-storey temple, with 18 steps, consists of dhyana mantapam and annadhana hall at the ground level. The first floor has shrines for Sri Aiyappa, Vinayaga, Muruga, Nagaraja and Sri Maligapurathamman.

Consecration was held on July 8 under the guidance of the Sabarimala supreme priest Kandaru Mohanaru Thanthri. An abhang mela was held in this connection for a week.
