Consecration

A temple for Alilai Krishnan has been built inside the Sarguru Gnanasiddhar temple in Kalpakkam. Conceived and designed by the Onkara Ashramam, Pondicherry, the deity of Alilai Krishnan has been carved from a single stone at Mamallapuram.

Sri Onkarananda Swamigal, Head of the Onkara Ashramam, said that the temple is the first of its kind in India and the presiding deity is 20 ft. tall. The temple has been constructed at a cost of about Rs. 5 lakhs and kumbabhishekam is to be performed in August.

The Sarguru Gnanasiddhar Temple, also built by the Onkara Ashramam, is a symbol of `Guru Bhakti.' It has 40 shrines, including that of 18 saints like Shirdi Saibaba, Sri Adi Sankarar, Vyasar and Sri Raghavendrar.

The head of the Pondicherry Ashramam, who undertook a European tour, said that he gave lectures on spirituality and Indian culture at the instance of various Hindu organisations in France, and at the first anniversary of the Guru Onkarananda Association, an organisation started by his disciples in Paris.
