ROMANCE AGGRESSIVE: ``Anbe Aaruyire"
"Today we are shooting at three places. Which is the place you would like to visit?" asked director and actor of "Anbe Aaruyire," S. J. Suryah. Well, one didn't want to miss out on anything. So off we go with Suryah and the destination East Coast Road.
We are welcomed with the news that the petrol bombs are ready and the area has been cordoned off. It sure promises exciting action. The expert is asked to light the bombs and shout for Suryah to run. This is done with precision, the cameraman capturing the bombs bursting and Suryah leaping away.
The next stop is YMCA grounds in Nandanam. On way Surya explains the bomb sequence. "No, it is not a fight scene. We have used the bombs for the song, `Varugirai Thodugirai.' The effect will be great," says the director with great enthusiasm. At the YMCA we find fight master `Kanal' Kannan giving instruction to those practising the movements for the shot. "It is a fight sequence in the film and I am taking the shots here." After a couple of hours of vigorous muscle-flexing, Suryah is ready to take off to AVM.
At the AVM, there is no set. All we have is a blue curtain. The lights come on, the minute Suryah enters. The song, ``Mayliragae Mayliragae,' floats across the loudspeaker. He and Nila, the heroine are taught movements by the dance master `cool' Jayanth.
The director comes over to explain. "We've used the blue matt technique to film the song. The lyric will have an appropriate illustration coming in the background. For example if the word is `Valluvar' we show the Kanyakumari Valluvar statue."
Suryah is working overtime to complete the film. ``It is a different concept," he says. ``It's about two lovers who quarrel all the time with their minds in love. The minds are the characters, actually. The twists and turns are sure to make the screenplay enjoyable," he says with confidence.
Santhanam, Santhana Bharathi, Sindhoori, Pandu and Mayilsamy are some of the other artistes who have acted in Annai Mary Madha Creations "Anbe Aaruyire." Suryah has got some of the best technicians behind him. A. R. Rahman has scored the music, lyrics are written by Vaale, dialogue is written by Rathnakumar and Suryah, cinematography is by Venu and the editor is Anthony. Story, screenplay, direction are by Suryah, who has also produced the film.
