A work on folk music



TALENTEDEmployed with the Police Department, Narayanaswamy is proficient in folk and theatre music

Bhagavatharu, a cultural organisation, in association with Indian Cultural Academy Trust, is releasing a book by folk singer Vemaval Narayanaswamy titled Helike.

The book is based on research by the author on a folk theatre form, which formed part of his doctoral work with the Hampi University.

An employee of the Police Department, Narayanaswamy is also proficient in folk and theatre music.

He has performed on various platforms in Bangalore and elsewhere and has released several tapes of folk music including Sojugada Sooji Mallige, Yake Baddadthi Thamma, Elu Chinnada Giri and so on. He has been a member of the Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy.

The book release function is at Ravindra Kalakshetra on August 1 at 5.30 p.m. The release will be followed by felicitation to the author and a music programme.
