The photography exhibition deals with the concept of camera obscura
|
Alliance Française and the French Embassy in India are jointly holding an exhibition of photographs at the Daira Centre for Art and Culture, Banjara Hills till August 19.
Vertical Sleepers, a disLOCATION displays photographs of sleepers taken in a very repetitive manner.
The photographs are taken in the same vertical composition and with the same angle.
Using a 35 mm lens, the photographer, Colette Mazabrard is forced to take these pictures at a very close angle.
These vertical format photographs are shown in a way that makes the viewer face the body of the sleeper, experimenting with the difference between two worlds and two locations: the viewer's world and the sleeper's world.
The exhibition shows the photographs in five rooms and in five different installations trying to represent the mental process involved in the making of a picture.
The exhibition could be a representation of the process of composing a photograph - this particular way of forcing a body to fit in a frame or deal with a camera obscura.
