Entertainer all the way

M.L. NARASIMHAN

The film is made by a director who is the master of `masala' movies.

PRETTY PAIR Nitin and Trisha team up for `Allari Bullodu.'

Amid the delightful clutter of studio equipment, furniture and other household articles at the now famous house set at Ramanaidu cine village in Nanakramguda, we found the messiah of masala movies, K. Raghavendra Rao relaxing in a chair while unit members hurriedly made arrangements for the next block to be shot for Sri Creations' Allari Bullodu, produced by K. Anil Kumar.

After dabbling with a semi-period fiction flick, the renowned filmmaker is back to his comfort zone — wholesome musical entertainers. The film is also expected to bring in an image makeover for its hero Nitin. The super successful Trisha is cast opposite him.

For this particular shot, the lead pair is not required. But a battery of key players — Sourabh Shukla, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Brahmanandam, Krishna Bhagawan, Sunil, Venumadhav, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam and Sakunthala faced Bhupathy's camera as the veteran director called for the take. Since K.R.R. believes in transporting the audience through his films than speak about them while in the making, producer K. Anil Kumar took up the task.

"It is a pre-climax scene that leads to a chase where Nitin and Trisha take part. Besides heroic action, the chase regales the audiences with light-hearted banter," says Anil. He says he is fortunate to make films with two legends — Bapu and K.R.R — so soon in his career. Incidentally, this is his third production.

"Nitin till now played a lover boy. But here is an image makeover that will earn him the mass hero tag. His role as the title indicates entertains while Trisha has a performance-centric role combined with glamour. We have a villain like in any other commercial entertainer. But this one is a variety villain not found generally in our films. Sourabh Shukla plays the role. Even the comedians have no separate track. Comedy mingles with the theme," he says.

Vizag Prasad is playing Trisha's father and Thanikella Bharani and Sudha are cast as Nitin's parents. Rathi is the second heroine and Paresh Rawal plays a crucial role too. As we talk there is an interruption. Anil has discussions about the audio release. Keeravani has composed the six songs.

"We shot three of them in Dubai and the surrounding islands, two in the studio sets here and one at R.F.C. Music is a major high," informs Anil. With his first production Sathibabu made his debut as the director. After working with two veterans, Anil will be introducing a new director once again in his production, this time a lady. "The script is being finalised. It will be directed by Nandini, an erstwhile assistant to Krishnavamsi."

"Right now, I am concentrating on the current venture. It has Raghavendra Rao's style of presentation that appeals to all types of audience. It is not like some of those films that are categorised into appealing to a particular segment. Universal entertainers will have universal appeal, like this one," says Anil as a parting shot.

There is a heavy downpour outside. The confident producer is expecting collections to flood the box-office when the film openseither at the end of August or the first week of September.
