Devotionals

The women members of Sangeethalaya Group, Anna Nagar, will render devotional songs and bhajans at Anna Nagar `A' Block Ladies Association (Ph: 2620 3928) on August 13 at 6.30 p.m.

Harikatha

Discourse on Nandanar Charitham will be rendered by Visaka Hari at Sri Krishna Gana Sabha, T. Nagar, on August 7, 10 a.m. Akkarai Subhalakshmi and Arjun Ganesh will accompany her on the violin and mridangam respectively.

Raga Tarangini Trust will feature harikatha by Kamala Murthi on August 9, 6 p.m. at Srinivasa Sastri Hall, Luz, Mylapore.

Music and dance festival

Sangamithra Trust, Mandaveli (Ph: 2494 1139) has organised a music and dance festival from August 5-8 at R. K. Swamy Arangam, Mylapore. Eminent artistes will perform at 5.45 p.m. everyday.

Anniversary

The first anniversary of `Anusham Chamber Concerts' of Rajhesh Vaidhya will be celebrated from August 6-8 with a series of concerts by up-and-coming and eminent artistes. The venue is Sri Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam, West Mambalam (Ph: 98407 50542/ 98407 50597/98/99/ 2489 3131). The festival is dedicated to Paramacharya.

Guru-sishya concert

A special programme of music, organised by Radel, will be held at Ragasudha Hall, on August 6, from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. P. Meera, a disciple of Seetha Narayanan, will render a vocal concert in the first hour, after which the guru will take over for the next couple of hours or so. The accompanists will be Melakkaveri Thyagarajan (violin) and Thanjavur Kumar (mridangam).

Memorable dance tour

On an invitation from the Indian Consulate of Berlin and the Indo-German Society in Bodensee — Lake of Constance, Meenakshi Chitharanjan presented Bharatanatyam recitals there in May. This was followed by performances at the packed auditorium of the Nehru Centre, U.K. and at the House of Commons, Westminster. The items presented at Westminster included an invocation and a tillana.
