New voice


Vocalist Atma Venkatesh, will release her first album Arambha in which she has sung in two ragas — Ahir Bhairav and Shree, morning and evening ragas respectively.

Atma, a student of R. Leela Bai and Pandit Sheshadri Gawai, is being trained by Pandit Parameshwar Hegde presently. This graduate in business management, has developed a singing style that has strains of three gharanas — Gwalior, Kirana and Patiala. She has performed at Yavanika for the Indian Centre for Cultural Relations (ICCR), for the Kannada Culture Department and also for different cultural organisations in Mysore, Dharwad, Sirsi and Honnavar. Atma has also performed on television too.

The release function on August 6, by Parameshwara Hegde Music Academy and Lahari Recording Company is at Akhila Havyaka Mahasabha, 11th Cross, Malleswaram, 6 p.m. For details call 92434 12666.
