Dance fest

Arangham Trust will host `Attam,' a three-day dance festival from August 17-19 at Dr. Nalli Gana Vihar, Sri Krishna Gana Sabha. The world premiere of Anita Ratnam's solo operatic creation, `Seven Graces' into aesthetic realms of Goddess Tara' will be premiered on August 17 and 18 at 7 p.m., followed by Geeta Chandran and Natya Vriksha's Chennai dance premiere, `So Many Journeys' on August 19 at the same time.

`Seven Graces' is set against the backdrop of the enigmatic Buddhist Goddess Tara. Interpreted in an original, textured context in collaboration with Hari Krishnan (inDance, Canada), the 60-minute minimalistic work uses an eclectic array of movements. Passes for Anita Ratnam's performance at Rs. 100 are available at Arangham Trust, Alliance Francaise, Amethyst, Collage, Landmark and Shilpi. Special discounts are being offered for students of dance. For details, contact: 044-2852 4917/98407-33078 or e-mail: aratnam@vsnl.com.
