The Sri Vijaya Thyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha, which completed 59 years of fruitful service in the cause of classical music and dance, organised a four-day fete, Yuvajana Sangeetha Sammelanam recently.
Besides young singers, the fete featured vocal recitals by children in the age group of 12 years - Surya Teja, M.P.S. Ravali and Chaganti H. Ramya Kiranmayi. Fulfilling all requirements of aalapana, neravu and swarakalpana with felicitous charm, they impressed the audience.
Kiranmayi, the youngest of the three, elaborated the Todi keerthana - Aaragimpave and Needucharana Pankajamule (Kalyani) with ιlan.
While she was well supported on the violin by H. Ramcharan and on the mridangam by P. Mehar Sagar, P. Gnanadev and A. Parthiva, V. Kalyana Abhijit and M. Dharani Kumar (all child artistes) provided able accompaniment to Suryateja and Ravali.
The full-fledged vocal recitals by Y. Ramana Babu, Malladi Yamuna Raman, V. Krishna Mohan and M. Jwala Prasad were also engaging exercises.
Accompanist P. Neeladri Rao stood out among the others, so did D.S. Prakasa Rao, Ramcharan and G.V.S. Raghuram on the violin. Similarly M. Sridhar was good on the mridangam.
Aakashvani `A' grade artiste, N. Krishnaveni, was felicitated during the fete.
She was presented with the gold medal instituted by the Sabha in memory of its founder-president, Dr. Alahari Singari on the occasion along with a citation and shawl.
