Emmy in Mumbai
The 33rd International Emmy Awards were recently judged in Mumbai for the first time. An all-Indian jury judged the awards in the categories of comedy and non-scripted entertainment. Of the 26 international entries in the two categories three were from India.
"India is a developed film and television industry," said Sandy Clark, International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences, Emmy Judging Manager.
About us and Madam and Eve from Penguin Films, South Africa, were the films that were selected in the comedy category. Sasuke from Tokyo Broadcasting Inc., Japan and London Hearts from TV Asahi Corp, Japan, were the films that were chosen in the non-scripted entertainment.
The International Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences, was founded in 1969 to "promote excellence in International television programming". It is also an organisation that presents the International Emmy Award to the best television programmes produced and aired outside U.S.
