Book release

A book on classical music by Lalita Ramakrishna was released at the Tattvaloka auditorium, 76, Eldams Road, Teynampet, on August 7. The book will serve as a handy guide for both the music experts and the beginners alike.

Crash course on music

Mudhra has organised a crash course on music to be held at Ranjith Hall, 14/82, Ist Avenue, Indira Nagar, Adyar, from August 21 to 27 from 6.15 p.m. to 8.15 p.m. Different forms of music, the fundamentals, format for a concert, vocal and instrumental music, information on the accompaniments etc will be discussed at the programme. To be conducted by musician Radha Bhaskar, the course will also feature lec-dems by eminent artistes. For further details call 98400 72821 or 93821 63330.

Discourse

Sengalipuram `Brahmasri' Damodara Dikshitar will present a discourse on Narayaneeyam (Krishnaleela) from August 21 to 27, 7 p.m., at a function organised by Chamber Music, at Parameswaran Arangam, Devi Academy School, Alapakkam Road, Valasaravakkam.

Asthika Samajam, Thiruvanmiyur, has organised a discourse on Kabirdasar, to be presented by Thanjavur Kamal Murthy on August 25 at Amarabharathi, 12, West Tank Street, Thiruvanmiyur.

Mahakumbabhishekam

The Ashtabandana Mahakumbabhishekam of Sri Sankara-Narayanar temple, Sri Ramar Street, Devaraj Nagar, Saligramam, will be performed on August 22 between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Dance and music recitals are being organised from August 19 to 22 at 7 p.m. daily.

Abhishekam will be at 9 a.m. and Annadanam at 11 a.m. The concluding day programme will also feature the music concert of Nithyasree Mahadevan at 7.30 p.m. Mandalabhishekam will be conducted for 48 days commencing from August 23 to October 8.

Concert

All India Radio, Chennai, will feature the music concert of Nithyashree Mahadevan on August 24, 5 p.m. The programme will be held in the Multi-track recording studio.
