Music and dance fest
The Oothukadu Venkatakavi Academy Trust, 7, Mathala Narayanan Street, Mylapore, (Ph: 24642664), will conduct a three-day music and dance fest from September 23 to 25.
The programme to be held at P. S. higher Secondary School, Mylapore, is in connection with the commemoration of the 305th birth anniversary of Mahakavi Venkatasubbiar. Vocal and flute competitions will be held for those in the 6-17 age group on September 25.
The festival will also feature music concert of Vasudha Ravi, dance recital of Sumana and Sindhu Sandya.
Janmashtami
ISKCON, Chennai, (Ph: 2434 3266 / 2436 0084) will celebrate Sri Krishna Jayanti on August 27 at Nathella Sulochanammal Kalyana Mandapam, Koyambedu, from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. next morning. Prabhakar Rao, Vice- Consul of Denmark and Gopika Varma, Princess of Travancore, will preside over the function and distribute prizes to the winners of the Hare Krishan Utsav competitions held for children early this month.
Special abhishekam will take place for Sri Krishna Rukmini Satyabhama at 11.45 p.m. Nandotsava and Srila Prabhupada Vyasa puja will begin the next day at 9 a.m.
