Special programme

Mylapore Sri Virupaksheeswarar Trust has organised a special programme on Thevaram which is on from August 23 at Virupaksheeswarar temple, Mylapore. The festival, on till September 3, will feature Thevaram songs daily at 7 p.m. followed discourses.

Dance fest

Sri Ragam Fine Arts, G-5, Sivaraman Street, Mandaveli, is celebrating the Padma Balasaraswathi Memorial dance festival from August 24 at Ragasudha Hall, Luz, Mylapore. Dancers Sreekala Bharath, Prema Sridharan and mridangist Thanjavur A. Natarajan will be honoured with the Balasaraswathi memorial award on the occasion.

Thematic presentation

Subbu Arumugham and party will present villupattu on Lord Krishna, on August 26 and 27, 6.30 p.m., at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kala Kendra, Mylapore.

CD release

Bhagyalakshmi Chandrasekar will present veena recital at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mini Hall on August 28 at 6.30 p.m. Her first music album (CD), entitled `Varaveena Mrudhu Paani,' will be released on the occasion. Anniversary celebration

Rasika Fine Arts, Chennai, will celebrate its eighth anniversary on August 27 at Mahodaya Hall, 36, 4th Avenue, Ashok Nagar, at 6 p.m. T. N. Vallinayagam, former judge, Madras and Karnataka High Court will preside over the function. Singer P. B. Sreenivos and K. S. Nagarajan of Kalanilayam will participate. The function will also feature UAA's "Kaadhalikka Neramundu," by Y. Gee. Mahendra.
