New temple for Sharadamba
The Bhoomi Puja for a temple for Goddess Sharadamba was performed recently at the Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation of North America at Strandsburg PA. Various homams performed from August 6-10 were coordinated by Dr. S. Yegna Subramanian, president, SVBF, who said the project would completed by the summer of 2006. V. R. Gowri Shankar, administrator of the Sringeri Math, Sringeri, said the temple was being built and would be run under the guidance of the Sringeri Math. Gowri Shankar also participated in the inauguration of the Sringeri Vidya Bharati Foundation, Canada, in Toronto. Ravi Subramaniam, founder and chairman of SVBF Canada, said it would renovate an existing Siva temple in Toronto under the supervision of the Sringeri Math.
Gokulashtami festival
Thirupoonthuruthy Sri Narayana Tirtha Swamigal Trust celebrated the 13th Gokulashtami festival at the Brindavanam of the saint composer on August 26 with the usual zest and fervour. Eminent artistes rendered the kritis of Sri Narayana Tirtha.
Samprokshanam
The samprokshanam of Thirukkannapuram Sowriraja Perumal temple will be performed on September 14. The Maha Samprokshanam of Srinivasa Perumal Temple, (the holy spot of Kal Garudan), Nachiarkoil, Kumbakonam District, (Ph: 0435-2467167) email:kalkalkaruda@
sancharnet.in will be performed on September 8, between 9 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. Yagasaalai begins on September 4, around 6 p.m.
Kumbabhishekam
The Mahakumbabhishekam of Sri Anandavalli Ambal Samedha Sri Kailasanathar swami temple will be performed on September 7 at 10 a.m. Special alankaram will be done to Sri Mahasakthi Vinayakar at 6 p.m.
Consecration
The Mahakumbabhishekam of Sri Appayya Dikshitar will be performed on September 5 at Om Murugashramam, West Mambalam at 6.45 a.m. Those who wish to take part in the Mandalabhishekam (Sept.6-Oct.22) may register their names with the priest. For details, contact: 2618 6657/2617 1865.
