Nutshell

Radhe Govind

To Celebrate Janmashtami, IIC presented Radhe Govind. The programme was presented by Uma Sharma and her disciples Radhika, Jyoti and Jaya with music by Jwala Prasad and Kunal Mukherjee. Accompanists included Mubarak Ali (tabla), Khalid Mustafa (sitar) and Paras (flute).

Freedom Movement

An exhibition of paintings, oleographs and prints, photographs, engravings, etc., on Indian Freedom Movement starting from the First War of Independence titled "Celebrating India's Independence" was on view at Gallery 51 in Greater Kailash-I. Besides, a group exhibition of photographs on `Freedom' was on view at India Habitat Centre's Delhi `O' Delhi.

Classical Music

Raagranjani presented an evening of classical music at the Habitat Centre. Which included a vocal recital by Jaya Samaddar, flute by Jagdish Rajput and a vocal recital by guest artiste Pt. Mani Prasad. Tabla accompaniment was by Soumitra Paul.

Theatre Shows

While Bela Theatre mounted at the LTG auditorium, Haribhai Vadagaokar's "Gadhe Ki Barat" under the direction of Seema, a graduate from NSD, Workshop production by children of the Talent Theatre group presented "Mera Sawaal, Mera Sapna". The latter play was aimed at sensitising the audience on child labour.

Painting Exhibitions

Even as Krishna's Collection Art Gallery presented gallery collection of paintings by Ram Gopal Vijaiwargiya, B.N. Arya and Bharion Nath Shukla at Triveni Kala Sangam, it had mounted another group show of paintings - at its Defence Colony gallery - with participating artists like Sakil, Rabab, Prushanta Kumar, and others. Anant Art Gallery presented two exhibitions, "Segregation" curated by Imran Quereshi, with artists including Ayesha Mariam Durrani, Hazrah Yousaf, Muhammad Zeeshan and Shoaib Mehmood, and an exhibition of sculpture "Absolute Equity". "Phenomena" was another painting exhibition by Mahesh Patidar, on at the Habiart Gallery.
