Dance Performances
There were two Bharatanatyam arangetrams, one by Maria A. Varghese at the Delhi Tamil Sangam, and the other by Sadhika Sud at the Triveni Chamber. Upasana presented a dance-drama in Odissi style "Krishnabhilash - the Eternal Longing" at the Habitat this past Monday. Besides, Bharatanatyam danseuse Rashmi Khanna and the students of Kalyani Kala Mandir presented a unique fusion of creative dance styles ranging from Western jazz and salsa, the folksy Bihu and Chau to the classical Kathak, Odissi and Bharatanatyam. The programme was held at the India International Centre.
Theatre Activities
Abhinet presented "Who is afraid of Virginia Wolfe" (Hindi adaptation). Besides these two plays that were staged at the Habitat Centre, Sohaila Kapur's "The Chat Room" was another play mounted at the same venue earlier this week.
Circus Show
Alliance Francaise de Delhi and the French Embassy in India presented a new circus show by the French troupe, Tour de Cirque that presented its all-new spectacle De Bals en balles.
Exhibitions
A number of art exhibitions were on display this past week. Which included an exhibition at the Art Junction, Intercontinental The Grand, Towards Divine, by Sudha Pillai, Niren Sengupta, Akash Choyal and others. Capturing spiritual love and a sense of belonging to the Lord was Anu Bajaj's show at the Visual Arts Gallery, Devotion. Sabia's oil and water colour show, Ruminations: On Play, Pleasure and Prejudice, was also on view.
