Songs Of Great Composers

Impressario India presented at the Habitat Centre songs of great composers by Nupurchhanda Ghosh of Kolkata, besides songs of Tagore and IPTA by Gautam Adhikari (also of Kolkata) to great applause.

Hindustani Music

Sangeeta Bandopadhyay, disciple of late Pt. Chinmoy Lahiri, late Ustad Munnawar Ali Khan and Kamal Bandopadhyay presented a Hindustani vocal recital earlier this week at the Habitat. She was accompanied on the tabla by Mihir Kundu.

Art Exhibitions

An exhibition of paintings, Man and Machine, by Sanjay Kumar was on view at Gallery Habiart. Paintings by members of All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society (AIFACS) titled Monsoon Show were on view at the AIFACS gallery till early this week. Krishna's Collection Art Gallery presented the exhibition Color Lines & Images by Bharat Bhawan artists (paintings, sculptures, graphics) at Lalit Kala Akademi. An exhibition of Biblical art by Sabrina Siga, Light Up Your World, was on view at The Ashok, Chanakyapuri. A unique vase exhibition designed by the house of Klove Designs, represented by designers Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth was on view at the Visual Arts Gallery. And at the Convention Foyer, Harpreet Ahluwalia's painting exhibition Alluring Fantasies was on view this past week.

Theatre Activities

Youth Parliament in collaboration with Wide Aisle productions presented an adapted version of Chilean activist Ariel Dorfman's play "Reader", which deals with the issue of repression and freedom set in a futuristic Indian context.
