Navarathri festival
The 10-day Sarada Navarathri festival will start at Sri Yogamaya Bhuvaneswari Peetam, Sri Bharadwaja Ashram, Ambattur (26860777) on October 4. The daily rituals include gopuja, Suvasini Puja, parayanam and Navavarana Puja.
At Sankara Math
Sri Sringeri Jagadguru Sankara Matam, West Mambalam, begins Sri Sarada Charan Navarathri on October 3. Rathotsavam will take place on October 13. Concerts will take place at 7.30 p.m. daily.
At Om Sri Skandasramaam
Special abhishekam, aradhana, concerts and discourses will mark the Sri Sarada Navaratri festival beginning at Om Sri Kandasramam, Selaiyur, on October 4. (22290134/22293388). Mahachandihomam will be conducted on October 13.
At Mylapore
Literary discourses daily at 7 p.m. is the highlight of the Navarathri utsavam conducted by Sri Virupakshiswarar temple, Bazaar Road, between Oct. 3 and 12. The deity will be taken in procession on different mounts in the evenings.
At Ashtalakhmi temple
Special prayers and puja will take place at the Mahalakshmi (Ashtalakshmi) temple, Besant Nagar, where the festival gets underway on October 4. Floral decoration and cultural programmes are the highlights of Navaratri that concludes on October 13.
