For an evening of melody
Lakshmi Krishnadas Pai, presents an evening of Hindustani classical and ghazals on the October 15 at Gurunanak Bhavan, 5 p.m.
Despite coming from a family of Carnatic musicians, Laskhmi always nurtured a deep desire to master Hindustani music, even as she was constantly exposed to the style in her formative years. This musician who holds a master's in psychology, has been a student of the renowned maestro Pandit Parameshwar Hegde. She later trained herself in the Gwalior Gharana style of singing by Pandit Mukund Gore for two years.
Lakshmi has performed for organisations such as Shruthi, Rajguru Smrithi, VLN Kendra and at several private concerts.
In November 2004, Lakshmi even had the honour of singing for Savai Gandharva Festival organised by doyenne Gangubai Hanagal's family at Kundgol near Hubli.
Lakshmi has also performed at music festivals even outside Bangalore, apart from her performances for regional television. She has also composed music for a play Gautam Buddha.
In this performance of two hours (one hour of classical music and one hour of ghazals), Lakshmi has composed most of the ghazals. She will be accompanied by Rajendra Nakod on tabla, Dr. Ravindra Katoti and Pandit Mukund Gore on harmonium, Faiyaz Khan on sarangi, and Ramakanth Desai on the tanpura.
