Nutshell

Aradhana

Sunadham is celebrating the 62nd aradhana of Brahmasri Sulamangalam Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar on October 22 at 6.45 p.m. The venue is Sri Siddhi Vinayagar temple hall, Besant Nagar. R. Krishnaswamy, secretary, Narada Gana Sabha, presides and V. V. Srivatsa, secretary, Music Academy is the guest of honour. The function will be followed by a flute recital by N. Ramani at 7 p.m.

Harikatha

Asthika Samajam, Tiruvanmiyur (Ph: 2452 1955) has organised a harikatha on `Bhadrachala Ramadas' by Thanjavur Kamalamurthi on October 23 at 6.30 p.m. The venue is Amarabharathi, 12. West Tank Street.

Special course

To commemorate its silver jubilee, Sampradaya organised a special course on Maharaja Swati Tirunal's Navaratri kritis in Sampradaya during Navaratri. The resource person was P. S. Narayanaswamy. The valedictory function will be held at Raga Sudha Hall, Mylapore on October 25 at 6 p.m. The guru will be honoured and certificates presented to the participants. The students will present Navaratri kritis on the occasion.

Music competition

The Selaiyur Sangeetha Sabha, in connection with their second anniversary, will be conducting carnatic and devotional music competitions on October 23 at 10 a.m. at Sri Sankara Vidyalaya, East Tambaram. Satsang

The founder of the Art of Living, Sri Sri Ravishankar, is visiting Chennai on October 22. A satsang will be conducted in his presence at the Narada Gana Sabha from 5 p.m. on the same day. Vikram Hazra, a renowned international Art of Living singer, will lead the satsang.

Sigaram Thotta Manithargal

The programme to be telecast on Vijay TV on October 23, will feature ADGP, K.Vijayakumar, this week. He traces his career from the day he joined the police force in 1975. He also talks about his experiences while on Veerappan's trail.
